Long Island Senators Anthony Palumbo and Patricia Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick have strongly criticized what they describe as "soft-on-crime" Democratic policies. The Senators specifically pointed to bail reform and the "Less is More" initiative as factors that have emboldened criminals, allowing them to roam free.

In a statement, the Senators referenced a recent headline from the Daily News about a criminal who had been in the authorities' grasp before committing a horrific attack. They emphasized the need for a change in Albany's approach to criminal justice, stating that current laws are endangering public safety.

"Because of so-called ‘reforms’ like cashless bail and Less is More, we are seeing more and more victims of crime," said Palumbo and Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick. They highlighted the deployment of the National Guard in the subways as a response to the escalating crime rates.

The Senators expressed concern that dangerous criminals were being released under these policies, posing a threat to the community. They called for a reversal of these laws to restore public safety and ensure that law-abiding citizens feel secure in their own neighborhoods.
