HAUPPAUGE, NY - Today, Rep. Nick LaLota (R-Suffolk County) has unveiled the commencement of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. LaLota, expressing his excitement, encouraged high school students from New York’s First District to participate in the competition, aiming to showcase their artistic talents.

LaLota declared, "It gives me great pleasure to invite every high school student in New York’s First District to participate in this year’s Congressional Art Competition. Last year saw so many students from every corner of the district submit incredible pieces to my office, truly showcasing the talent and ability of our community." He further added, “This year’s theme is ‘Patriotic American Icons’ and while submissions are not limited to this, an ideal submission should recognize our nation’s proud history, accomplishments, and the individuals who sacrificed for all of us. I look forward to seeing the amazing pieces of art from our awesome students!”

The winner of this year's competition will earn the opportunity to have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. Additionally, they will receive two round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C., to attend a Congressional reception honoring the champion from each Congressional district.

High school students in grades 9 to 12 residing or studying in New York’s First Congressional District are eligible to participate in the Congressional Art Competition. The submission period for the Spring 2024 Congressional Art Competition is currently open until Friday, April 5th, 2024, at 5 pm.

Artwork entries must adhere to specific criteria, including being two-dimensional, framed, and inspired by the theme "Patriotic American Icons." Only one entry per student will be accepted, and submissions must be original in concept, design, and execution.

To submit artwork for the competition, all entries must be received by Friday, April 5th, 2024, at 5:00 pm at Rep. LaLota's District Office at 515 Route 111, Suite 3B, Hauppauge, NY 11788. A copy of the 2024 Student Release Form in PDF format must also be included.
